This is an interior renovation project for a company of 30 people plus a steady flow of daily visitors who come here for consultation and meetings. The office occupies one entire floor in a tower structure with a square-shaped footprint. In this project, we accommodated the daily use function of the office by providing a rational floor plan that can maximize the smooth operation for different user groups, including the visitors, the employees, the employees interacting with the visitors, and the employers. Each group of users will be directed with their own flow of navigation in the space, without causing unnecessary encounters.
The internal corridor around the elevator core has to remain unchanged with its current treatment of materials. Taking the existing condition into consideration, the proposed space uses neutral colored, but more contemporary material to complete the other half of the story. In the open office area, ceilings are left open and reflective material is used to scale down the massiveness of the structure columns. The simple geometry of lighting device and furniture further lends the space a sense of clarity and airiness. Along the facade, built-in bench and storage area is created to provide moments for relaxation and places for storage. Along the internal corridor, all the units facing the pathway are enclosed with translucent glazing, with the hope to introduce as much openness as possible while preserving users’ privacy inside.
